Jurgen Klopp believes Xherdan Shaqiri will relish Merseyside derby battle.

The Swiss attacker's ability to unlock a backline will be crucial with the manager expected to revert back to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Jurgen Klopp believes Xherdan Shaqiri will relish his first experience of a highly-charged Merseyside derby.

The Swiss attacker is expected to return to the starting line up for Sunday's showdown with Everton at Anfield after being relegated to bench duty against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek.

Shaqiri's ability to unlock a backline will be crucial with Klopp expected to revert back to a 4-2-3-1 formation. The summer signing from Stoke has created an average of 2.1 open play chances per 90 minutes this season – a better ratio than any of his Reds team-mates.
“That's something you do always, when the new boys are in they are so much better than all the others,” Klopp said.
I don't get the word 'relish' actually, but yes I think he will enjoy it a lot and he will be ready for it as well. We have to see how we play and which line up we will choose.”Four wins and two draws in this fixture have helped Klopp extend Liverpool's unbeaten derby run to 17 matches in all competitions.
But he's convinced that with new boss Marco Silva at the helm the Blues are now a different proposition.
“Preparation-wise you can see that it's just completely different quality. That's obvious, I watched three of their games back,” Klopp added.
“Marco Silva has put a proper stamp on Everton's game so that looks like a proper fit. They wanted him desperately, now he's there.
“That's how it looks, a really good team. They spent a lot last year, this year very smart, and now all their signings together are a really strong team.”
